Cox was a guest on Scott Feinberg’s podcast this week «Awards Chatter» to talk about his new TV series “Shining Vale”.
In the horror comedy, which is broadcast on the channel Starz and several streaming services, Cox appears in the role of the married mother of two Patricia. In an attempt to recover from a midlife crisis, Patricia and her family move to an old house to start over.
Depression
In the podcast, Cox, best known as Monica in “Friends”, confesses – that she has put a tough time behind her, and that there are some commonalities with her and the character.
– Ok, this is a bit personal, says the actress and says that she went on a rampage after “Cougar Town” put an end to 2015.
Not only was it hard to stop a series she loved so much, but she also went through a breakup.
– It really affected me. Something violent, she explains.
Cox does not mention the person’s name, but for the past ten years she has had an on-and-off relationship with her Snow Patrol-rocker Johnny McDaid (45). The couple is engaged.
– This was a big growth period for me. I went from a deep depression to having to examine myself and my role in what happened. I spent a lot of time on my own maturation, says Cox.
It became necessary to take a break from work. At that time, Cox made an intense effort to hunt for the fountain of youth and “find himself.”
– I tried to escape from age and struggled to realize that I was getting older. I think I probably had a midlife crisis, she says.
