Hacking CD Projekt will affect development speed – including patches for Cyberpunk 2077

President of CD Projekt Adam Kicinski at the request of the news agency PAP commented on the possible consequences of the recent hacker attack on the company.

As a reminder, at the beginning of the week, the Polish studio reported that became a victim of a hack: The source code of several games (including Cyberpunk 2077) and internal documentation.

CD Projekt said they were not going to negotiate with the hackers and turned to law enforcement agencies to bring the criminals to justice. Those, in turn, have already begun to act.

According to Kichinsky, at this stage of the development of events, there are still “too early” assess the long-term consequences of a hack, but the situation will definitely affect current projects.

In particular, the head of CD Projekt warned that in the short term, the hack will slow down the development process. Recall that the studio is currently working on the release of patches for Cyberpunk 2077.

Kichinsky also added that the attackers did not gain access to the personal data of the players and users of the services. CD Projekt, meanwhile, is strengthening infrastructure and recovering lost information.
