Hackers leak passwords to half a million VPN accounts

The other day, almost half a million login details belonging to users of the VPinet service Fortinet were published on the shady part of the web.

According to security researchers, the hackers must have used an older vulnerability with the designation CVE-2018-13379 to access the sensitive information, which indicates that the attack itself took place already last year.

Users of Fortinet’s VPN service are encouraged to change their passwords as soon as possible to stay on the safe side. In addition, it may be a good idea to update the software and check logs to see if there have been any suspicious activities recently.
