Haase misses the Olympic standard due to a strong tailwind – Baden-Württemberg

Weinheim (dpa) – Rebekka Haase from the Wetzlar sprint team missed the Olympic standard over 100 meters due to a strong tailwind. The 28-year-old ran 11.13 seconds in second place at the athletics meeting in Weinheim on Saturday and was 0.02 seconds below the target time. However, the time is not recognized because of the strong tail wind of 2.1 meters per second. The winner of the race was Mujinga Kambundji from Switzerland in 11.03 seconds. As the only German sprinter so far, Haase’s club colleague Lisa Mayer had cracked the Olympic standard with 11.12 seconds.

The fastest sprinter at the sports festival in Weinheim was Marvin Schulte. In the German best time of the year of 10.21 seconds, the Leipziger remained well behind the Olympic norm (10.05 seconds). Gregor Traber from Tübingen won over 110 meter hurdles in 13.61 seconds, but missed both his own German best time of the year (13.57 seconds) and the norm for the Olympic Games in Tokyo (13.32 seconds).
