The cars of the American team Haas belonged to the top half of the table all weekend at the Red Bull Ring. Magnussen and Schumacher took sixth and seventh place in Friday’s qualifying.
Although they dropped to seventh and ninth positions in the Saturday sprint, Schumacher in particular improved in the race and achieved his best result of the season with sixth place.
The son of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher scored his first points in F1 a week ago at Silverstone for eighth place, and followed it up with sixth place at the Red Bull Ring.
“It was fun fighting Lewis again. I felt a lot different compared to yesterday, I knew he had to take care of the tires,” said Schumacher.
“I understood pretty early on that it wasn’t going to be a one-stop race with the way the tires were behaving. It was difficult, but after Silverstone it’s another result with two cars in the points, so everyone in the team can be very happy. To be voted rider of the day is also great, thank you all.”
Magnussen was worried about the engine
The joy of a large number of points for the team is also enjoyed by the eighth Magnussen, who feared that he would not even reach the finish line due to engine problems.
“A great weekend for our team, it was really great. We finally got a bit lucky after the four or five races that weren’t good for us,” Magnussena is pleased.
“I had a bit of engine trouble throughout the race, I was just praying that it wouldn’t blow up, which it didn’t and I’m grateful that I was able to finish the race without any problems. It was a great qualifying, a great sprint and a great race.”
