Mazepin was discredited earlier this month after a video appeared on his Instagram showing him grabbing an apparently intoxicated lady in a car. The video spread like wildfire over the internet and a number of Formula 1 fans made a call under the hashtag #WeSayNoToMazepin to ban the 21-year-old Russian – who will drive for Haas next season.

Haas then announced that the matter would be handled internally. Mazepin apologized and Andrea D’lVal – the lady in question – said that the two are good friends and that nothing crazy had happened. After this, all the commotion subsided, but now the upcoming Formula 1 driver is the topic of conversation again on Twitter. D’Ival has a number on Instagram photos and texts which many fans say indicate that she is not okay with what happened at all. In addition, Mazepin has now removed Haas’ team from his bio on social media, adding extra oil to the rumor fire.
The whole thing is said to have left several senior members of the Haas team concerned about the brand’s reputation and relationship with sponsors. “Alternatives are now being seriously considered,” Formula 1 journalist Marco Rossi writes, among others. Also the platform f1racers reports that a number of sponsors would not want to be associated with Mazepin. However, an official statement from Haas or Mazepin has not yet been made. For now it is only rumors.
