HAARP Program: Controversies, Experiments, and Military Implications

The HAARP program has been controversial for many years. Conspiracy theory enthusiasts believe that it is a weapon intended to control people’s minds, influence weather conditions or cause earthquakes. Meanwhile, scientists working in the HAARP program explain that the goal is to study the highest layers of the Earth’s atmosphere.

It turns out that the facility has just conducted some very strange experiments. The goal was to create an artificial aurora borealis over Alaska. The tests had been going on for the past few days and were expected to be a complete success. They were attended by outstanding experts from several American universities, namely: University of Alaska Fairbanks, Cornell University, University of Colorado Denver, University of Florida and Georgia Institute of Technology.

Scientists wanted to check how the ionosphere would behave when huge amounts of energy generated by the entire HAARP antenna network were directed at it. These are 180 high-frequency antennas with a power of 3.6 megawatts. The ionosphere is the area of the Earth’s atmosphere extending from 50 to 1,000 kilometers above the surface of our planet.

The frequencies of wave transmission to the ionosphere were to vary, ranging from 2.8 to 10 megahertz. Interestingly, the glow was created over the entire Alaska, and although it was red and green in color and was very faintly invisible to the human eye, using the equipment it turned out that its light was visible even at a distance of about 500 kilometers from the city of Gakona.

The experiment was to confirm whether the so-called plasma waves amplify other very low-frequency waves, which can be used for better communication over long distances between, for example, objects located on Earth and space installations. It is no secret here that the program is mainly related to the army and is intended to provide the army with a new level of stable communication.

This research is also of great importance from the point of view of the rapidly approaching peak of solar activity. In the fall of 2024, our star may generate powerful flares, and spectacular aurora borealis may form in the Earth’s magnetosphere. Intense magnetic storms may therefore pose a threat to satellites and energy installations on Earth. The US military is conducting research to deal with this problem.

China is also conducting similar research. Their EFL antenna network is located 1,000 kilometers south of Beijing, but the exact location is kept secret. Experts believe that the object also has a purpose other than detecting enemy ships. There is also talk of local heating of the ionosphere and thus influencing the flight trajectory of intercontinental ballistic missiles carrying nuclear weapons. This type of installation could quickly and effectively neutralize even the newest hypersonic weapons being developed by the United States and Russia.
