Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sure his record will be broken by Erling Haaland in the near future. He still holds the record for the sharpest player in Norway Champions League.
Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still holds the record, even though he has retired since 13 years ago to be precise in 2007. Solskajer has scored a total of 20 goals in 77 matches in the Champions League together. Manchester United.
One of his most iconic goals was when he was the determinant of MU’s victory in the 1998/1999 Champions League title. Solskjaer scores on injury time to bring the Red Devils to a 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in the final. These goals also ensure MU embraced treble in that season.
After more than a decade untouched, Solskjaer’s record is now under threat of being broken by Haaland. Haaland’s immense talent meant it took him just two seasons to stick close to Solskjaer’s goalscoring record.
He is only four goals away from Solskjaer’s record after notching 16 goals in the Champions League. Haaland was extraordinary because he recorded his goals in only 13 matches with RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.
At only 20 years old, Haaland clearly still has plenty of time to continue scoring goals in the Champions League.
