The Norwegian scored three goals in the Citizens’ 4-1 win over the newly promoted side on Matchday 2 of the Premier League and has four goals in two games.
On Saturday morning, Manchester City had their first outing of the season at the Etihad Stadium, thrashing newly promoted Ipswich Town 4-1 in the second round of the Premier League. Erling Haaland, who remains unstoppable, scored a hat-trick and Kevin De Bruyne also scored for the Citizens, while Sannue Szmodics had opened the scoring for the visitors.
The game started with a big surprise. Kieran McKenna’s men broke the deadlock in the seventh minute thanks to Sammie Szmodics and a suspenseful finish through Ederson’s legs. However, Pep Guardiola’s men were quick to react and before the quarter-hour mark they were already winning. In the 12th minute, Erling Haaland took charge of a penalty and tied the game, and in the 14th minute Kevin De Bruyne took advantage of a gross error by goalkeeper Arijanet Muric to turn the game around. To top it off, two minutes later, the Norwegian charged into space, evaded the goalkeeper with a header and scored.
From then on, the game became less intense and the score remained the same until, 43 minutes into the second half, the android controlled the ball outside the area and fired a left-footed shot that went in just inside the goalkeeper’s near post and sealed the final score of 4-1. Manchester City have started the Premier League with a perfect score after two games and Haaland, who was the top scorer in his two previous campaigns in England, has already scored four goals in two games and is now the leading scorer.
