Four minutes later, Haaland scored his thirteenth goal of the season in all competitions with a fine shot from a Joao Cancelo cross.
The Norwegian striker admitted he was proud of City’s response after the delay.
“In the end we showed who we are, this is who we are and this is how we have to play,” said Haaland.
“I’m proud of the last 20-25 minutes. We scored two great goals today and my goal was a little better honestly! Beautiful cross from Cancelo.”
The win brought Pep Guardiola’s men to the top of Champions League Group G after two games.
As for 22-year-old Haaland, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer market, he also took time after the game to thank his former team, who have faced City multiple times in head-to-head matches.
Haaland said: “It’s nice to see everyone from Dortmund, but they didn’t stop me, I scored.”
