Haaland at Bayern in the future? Flick “don’t dismiss it”

Bayern manager Hansi Flick has indicated that it is “entirely possible” that Erling Haaland will be Robert Lewandowski’s successor in Munich.

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick refused to rule out the prospect of Erling Haaland following in Robert Lewandowski’s footsteps from Borussia Dortmund to the German champions.

Haaland’s scoring exploits have made him one of the most courted players in world football, with Bayern likely to compete with some of the bigger teams if Dortmund decides to bring the Norway international to market.

Lewandowski left Dortmund for Bayern in 2014 and won numerous trophies with the Bavarian giants, with Haaland being named as a potential successor.

Flick was speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday’s Der Klassiker between Bayern and Dortmund when asked if he could imagine Haaland taking over from Lewandowski at the Allianz Arena. He told Sky Germany: “Very, very possible in life, nothing can be ruled out. But it’s far. He has a long-term contract at Dortmund and remains an option for many big clubs.”

Dortmund facing a tough choice for Haaland

Haaland, who has 29 goals in 28 matches this season including a double against Bayern this Saturday, has a release clause in the order of € 77m but this will only come into force in 2022. However, in view of value he presents, Dortmund may look to sell him as early as this summer The pressure to take advantage of Haaland could be even greater if Dortmund miss the Champions League as the club face a tough fight to qualify for next season’s competition.

Bayern would certainly be among those keen to sign Haaland and Lewandowski is the example for the Norwegian to follow.

The Poland international has won 16 major trophies in seven years at Bayern, including six Bundesliga titles, three German cups and the Champions League.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have also expressed an interest in him, Haaland will be spoiled for choice if he decides to change air this summer .
