Haakon Skramstad (Sp) was elected as 2nd deputy representative in the Storting from Akershus in autumn 2021. He says there are two reasons for the change.
– I have always been interested in Europe and EU politics. I have been a Center Party member in spite of that. The second reason is domestic politics. I think there is too much dictation by SV and the left. The Center Party no longer pursues clear, good old-fashioned centre-party politics, he adds Aftenposten.
Skramstad sees himself as a classic Center Party voter. He grew up in the village and joined Senterungdommen as a 14-year-old. After 17 years in the Center Party, he says goodbye to the party.
– I think we need more value creation out in the rural areas. And I think the Conservative Party has policies that can achieve that, he adds.
