Gyurov did not receive the reconfirmation of the head of the Supreme Administrative Court on the suspicions about connections with Peevski

The Chairman of the Supreme Administrative Court, Georgi Cholakov, refused to withdraw from the case that Andrey Gyurov leads against the decision of the BNB Board of Directors to dismiss him as deputy governor.

Gyurov’s decision was the reason for his removal The Anti-Corruption Commission (CPC), found him ineligible to hold office. However, the parliament will have the final say on the matter. In another case, Gyurov also attacked the action of the KPK, which became the reason for his removal.

According to European legislation, everyone has the right to an independent and independent court, pleaded Gyurov, cited by BTA. In this case, according to him, there is doubt that Cholakov is impartial. He was responsible for the statement of Hristo Ivanov before the parliamentary committee that was investigating the groups around Martin Bojanov – the Notary and Petyo Petrov – the Euro. In front of the management Ivanov talks about a possible relationship between Delyan Peevski and Cholakov, who was sanctioned for corruption by the US and Britain. Ivanov mentioned how concerned Peevski was about the career of Cholakov, whose term at the head of VAS ends in November. Cholakov himself denies having a connection with Peevski.

Another of Andrey Gyurov’s reasons for asking for the rejection of Judge Cholakov is because he was designated by a special order as the chairman of the court panel in his case. Therefore, he was appointed by Georgi Cholakov himself as the president of the Supreme Court.

After hearing Gyurov’s request, Judge Georgi Cholakov said he would rule on it in closed session and would do so a few hours later.

The court panel unanimously rejected as unfounded Gyurov’s request to dismiss Cholakov, the court announced. The senior judges accept that the statements made by Gyurov in his request for rejection, in connection with public statements by Hristo Ivanov, are based on personal opinions, not related to special circumstances which reasonably give rise to reasonable doubts as to the impartiality of the chairman. of the panel, Georgi Cholakov.

The decision also explains that the case was assigned to Cholakov as a duty panel, as it is currently a court holiday and only certain categories of cases are considered there the open sessions, including the case of Gyurov. Permanent and regular use of VAS in the period July 15 – September 1,
the cases to be heard in open court will be randomly assigned to the judges assigned to be on duty that week, said the decision, which is final.

Again in closed session, the panel, which also includes Yulia Kovacheva and Emilia Ivanova, will rule on the request to suspend the current case and on the request for a preliminary investigation to the Court of the European Union (EU) in Luxembourg.

The trial was adjourned until September 13. In the courtroom, it became clear that the Commission for Combating Corruption has not yet sent the file on Gyurov’s case to the magistrates.

Anyway, Gyurov was dismissed as caretaker prime minister. In the previous procedure, when Dimitar Glavchev became the last acting Prime Minister, Kiril Petkov said that Gyurov would have agreed. Gyurov himself explained that he did not accept being the acting prime minister.
