Gyms already have biosecurity protocols

The process of reopening the different sectors in the country continues to advance. On this occasion, the Ministry of Health approved the biosafety protocols so that the training and physical conditioning centers, which include gyms, box, functional studies and where physical exercise is carried out, implement the reopening pilot plans.

“The protocol contained in Resolution 1313 of 2020 must be applied both by those responsible for these establishments and by their users, in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19,” reported the Health portfolio.

Local authorization

Although the protocols have already been established, the training and physical conditioning centers will be able to function if they are previously authorized by the local authorities in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior.

In the case of Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area, the pilot tests for the reopening of different economic sectors are in ‘stand by’, so for now this sector would not restart work.

“All the processes of reactivation of sectors that require pilots for their implementation, are in stand-by during this phase of responsible and progressive containment of the virus”, reported Ángel Galvis, Advisor of strategic projects of the Mayor’s Office of Bucaramanga.

As he explained, the objective is that once we overcome this stage of increase in cases, pilots of joint reactivation will be presented to the National Government.

On the other hand, David Anaya, vice president of the Santander Gym Association, Asogym, told Vanguardia that today the protocols authorized by the Government will reside in the Municipal Administration, this in order to restart work.

“The Government has already established the protocols, now we hope that Mayor Juan Carlos Cárdenas will set the date, but we still do not know when it will be. Tomorrow (today) a group of gym owners are going to file the protocols with the Mayor’s Office ”, stated Anaya.

So far Cali would be the first city in the country to open the doors of gyms; while, in Bogotá these places would open in 17 of the 20 locations between August 31 and September 4.
