The team from Jujuy had its clearest chance at the end of the first half, when referee Maximiliano Macheroni awarded a penalty in their favor. However, Cristian Menéndez was unable to convert, as Julio Salvá, the local goalkeeper, stopped the shot, thus making his fifth penalty save so far in the tournament.
The second half was uneventful, with both teams showing few ideas in attack. But when a draw seemed imminent, Patronato found its goal. Gonzalo Asís took advantage of a dead ball to score in the 37th minute, sealing the defeat for the team from Jujuy.
Gimnasia tried to equalize in the last minutes, but it was not enough, and Patronato managed to resist to keep the three points at home for the First National.
