The Citizens’ Alliance for Economic Justice, a progressive civic organization (hereinafter referred to as Gyeongsilryeon), has urged the resignation of the candidate for Justice Minister Park Beom-gye.
Gyeongsilryeon issued a statement on the 26th and pointed out that “The Minister of Justice, who is responsible for overseeing the judicial administration of a country, has become involved in a dispute over the violation of the ethics law for public officials due to the omission of property reports.”
Earlier, candidate Park was suspicious of violating the ethics law of public officials due to omission of real estate reports. It is said that he or she reportedly omitted the report of his own property in Yeongdong, Chungbuk for 8 years, or reported that his spouse’s property in Miryang, Gyeongnam was late. There were also concerns that the apartment was sold to Daejeon without reporting it.
Gyeongsilryeon said, “(Candidate Park) said that he was not aware of the omission of the report, but it is necessary to investigate whether it is intentional avoidance of the reporting obligation. Regardless of the result, candidate Park has already been the Minister of Justice who must defend law and justice. “It should be seen that I have lost my qualifications as a candidate.”
Gyeongsil-ryeon also raised the possibility of an affinity with Samsung, such as candidate Park’s name appearing in Samsung’s’Jang Choong-ki’. In relation to the Gukjeong Nongdan case, former Samsung Future Strategy Office President Jang Choong-ki collected information on influential personnel in order to prevent the passage of the National Assembly of the “Act on the Redemption of Criminal Property Crimes and Damage Relief”. It is known that the information included that the bill was not signed.
Gyeongsilryeon said, “I urge a thorough investigation by the National Assembly Public Officials Committee and the National Assembly Ethics Committee on allegations of candidate Park Bum-gye’s resignation from his post as the minister, and his alleged violations of the public officials ethics law,”
