15th Busan I-Park Expedition
K-League 2 Gyeongnam FC defeated Gimcheon Sangmu 2-0 and regained the top spot in the league.
On the 2nd at 1:30 pm in the 5th round of ‘Hanawon Q K League 2 2023’ held at Gimcheon Sports Complex in Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam won 2-0 thanks to Glayson and Lee Jun-jae’s consecutive goals.
Gyeongnam, which continued its undefeated streak of 3 wins, 2 draws (11 points) in 5 games since the opening, regained the top of the rankings board by ahead of Anyang (3 wins, 2 draws) on goal difference.
Composed of national team-level players, Sangmu Kim Cheon was regarded as the ‘absolute top 1’ this season, but Gyeongnam led the match that day.
Gyeongnam pushed their opponent hard from the beginning and did not hide their strong will for 3 points. Gyeongnam took advantage of the gap in the Gimcheon defense line’s breathing in the early stages to warm up the attack, and Gleyson (Season 2) scored the first goal in the 14th minute of the first half. In a set-piece situation, Park Min-kyu’s cross crossed the opponent’s defender’s height, and Glayson kicked it accurately after trapping it in the chest, shaking the opponent’s net.
Kim Cheon, who scored the opening goal at home, tried to equalize through Jo Young-wook’s toe, but the accurate finish was disappointing.
Gyeongnam put Miranjingya and Kimcheon put Kwon Chang-hoon in the 28th minute, respectively, aiming to turn the atmosphere around. Right before the end of the first half, after a corner kick, Gleyson’s powerful header was caught by goalkeeper Shin Song-Hun’s save, and Gyeongnam missed the opportunity to run away.
In the second half, coach Seol Ki-hyeon ordered a tactical change, replacing Miranjingya and Kim Bum-yong with Lee Kang-hee and Cho Sang-jun in the 17th minute.
In the 22nd minute, from a set piece in Gimcheon, Kwon Chang-hoon fired a lightning-like mid-range turning shot, but Gyeongnam goalkeeper Go Dong-min blocked it with a super save.
Five minutes later, Kwon Chang-hoon tried another shot, but it did not lead to a goal.
As Kim Cheon’s attack intensified, Gyeongnam chose to put two foreign players, Glayson and Castro, on the bench to stabilize the defense.
Afterwards, Kim Cheon knocked on Gyeongnam’s goal several more times, but overall luck was not followed, such as hitting the crossbar and bouncing off.
Gyeongnam, which was prone to Kimcheon’s wave of attacks, scored an additional goal with a single counterattack.
In the 44th minute of the second half, in a counterattack situation, Lee Jun-jae (Season 1) set a wedge for the team’s victory with a powerful shot after dribbling.
