[이데일리 스타in 주영로 기자] Choi Kyung-joo, 51, tied for 11th in the Mitsubishi Electric Championship ($1.8 million in prize money) in the opening game of the PGA Champions Tour.

On the last day of the tournament held at the Kapolei Kona Hualalai Golf Club (par 72) in Hawaii, USA on the 24th (Korean time), Choi Gyeong-ju caught 6 birdies and blocked Bogie with 2, hitting 4 under par 68. Choi Gyeong-ju, who wrote down 206 strokes at 10 under par in the final total, ended in a joint 11th place behind the championship Darren Clark (21 under par 195 strokes).

Choi Gyeong-ju started the PGA and Champions Tour concurrently when he turned 50 in May last year. Choi Gyeong-ju, who participated in six competitions to make his Champions Tour debut at the Ally Challenge in July last year, ended the first season with a tie for 7th in the Charles Schwarb Series at Ozarks National and a tie for 6th in the Dominion Energy Charity Classic.

On the first day of the tournament, we raised the expectation for the first victory of our debut, but failed to reduce the number of strokes on the second day, and was pushed to a tie for 15th place, leaving us away from the competition.

On the last day, in the first half of the game, only one shot was reduced, so the ranking was pushed back.

Darren Clarke won his second championship in about three months after his debut on the Champions Tour at the Timbertech Championship held in October last year. The winning prize is 310,000 dollars (about 340 million won).

Tief Gooson (South Africa) finished with 19 under par 197, and Jerry Kelly (US) finished with 3rd place (17 under par 199).
