“Gyeonggi-do Starts Vaccination of All Small Farms to Prevent Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreak”

According to Gyeonggi-do on the 13th, the provincial government sent an official letter to each city and county the day before, titled ‘Thorough implementation of special quarantine instructions by the governor to prevent foot-and-mouth disease’.

According to the special quarantine instructions, the province requested that all livestock-related facilities in the province (including poultry breeding farms and slaughterhouses) be disinfected and vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease by the 12th.

Officials in charge of each city and county conducted telephone surveillance for all farms in their jurisdiction, including cattle and pigs, and ordered livestock farms to conduct regular disinfection between 2 and 3 p.m. every day until May 31.

In addition, events and gatherings for livestock farms are refrained from, and livestock, people, vehicles, etc. are thoroughly disinfected and recorded when entering livestock farms. In addition, it was requested to prohibit entry to farms within 5 days for workers returning from overseas and those involved in livestock farming who traveled abroad, strengthened bio/disassembly inspections for slaughtered livestock, and disinfected the inside and outside of slaughterhouses.

Meanwhile, in Gyeonggi-do, there have been no outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease since two cases of foot-and-mouth disease occurred in Anseong in 2019, and 2,223 animals were killed.
