TuS N-Lübbecke is the first to be relegated and has to leave the Bundesliga after just one year. Coach Emir Kurtagic’s team celebrated a 21:20 (9:12) win against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf on the penultimate matchday, but is still four points behind GWD Minden, who beat HC Erlangen 22:21 (13:12 ) struck. The Ostwestfalen have thus relegation as good as certain. Goalkeeper Malte Semisch once again provided great support for Minden with eleven saves.
For Lübbecke it was only the seventh win of the season after last week’s respectable win against TVB Stuttgart (31:29). With just one game left, Minden is two points ahead of HBW Balingen-Weilstetten, who are penultimate and will probably have to go to the lower house. GWD has a goal difference that is 42 goals better.
We had 0:26 points, you have to imagine that.
“First of all, I’m really proud of my team and very moved – the rest is just a facade,” Minden’s coach Frank Carstens admitted to “Sky”: “I hope I can keep it up. We had 0:26 points, that You have to imagine and now we’re at least hopefully saved. The theoretical possibility is of course still there, but we assume that’s it for now.”
Magnusson makes 13 goals – Stuttgart dupes Hamburg
Meanwhile, champions SC Magdeburg continued their winning streak in the league. Bennet Wiegert’s team prevailed in the derby at SC DHfK Leipzig with 36:31 (17:16) and celebrated their ninth success in a row. The Saxons kept the game open until 28:30 (52 nd ) before Magdeburg Tempo-Handball prevailed. With this defeat, Leipzig said goodbye to the fight for European business. In front of 5200 spectators, left-hander Omar Ingi Magnusson was the outstanding player with 13 goals. The Icelander still has chances for the top scorer in the HBL.
Meanwhile, TVB Stuttgart won 32:27 (16:13) at HSV Hamburg. Eight goals from HSVH left winger Casper Mortensen were also not enough in the end. Viggo Kristjansson and Sascha Pfattheicher each scored seven goals for the Swabians, who had already led by three goals at the break.
