A Guyanese star has just joined the sky. Singer-songwriter Edward Blasse passed away on December 24, 2021. His disappearance follows heart problems. He breathed his last at the Meynard Hospital Center, in Fort-de-France (Martinique) where he had been transferred the day before. Edward Pale was 73 years old.
The musician is at the origin of literary works Love or friendship, Ô Guyana, Literary paragraph or The wood of the black snake. He wrote a dozen collections of poems and released one last title a short time ago. In his literary and musical works, he told of his love for Guyana. He was also part of the choir of Soula’s men (Macouria) as a guitarist.
Raymond Charlery is close to Edward Blasse. When he learned of the latter’s disappearance this Saturday morning, he was amazed. “I ran into him almost a week ago“, he reports. This other artist has known the composer in a professional context. He has invited him several times on the occasion of radio broadcasts before.
“He became a friend“, he confides. The two friends worked a lot together afterwards.”He is one of the singers that I have promoted a lot, Guyanese that I pushed a lot, but also my friends“, remembers Raymond Charlery.
