Guusje Nederhorst Remembered: Dinand Woesthoff Reflects on 20th Anniversary of Her Death

Today marks exactly twenty years since Guusje Nederhorst died. Her then husband Dinand Woesthoff (51) reflected on this on Instagram, with a clear request to his followers. “It will always be a special day.”

“Don’t send me sympathy messages. No sadness and all that.”

The singer posts a photo of the sun on Instagram, with the song Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me) can be heard in the background. “20 years is a long time,” Dinand begins his post. ‘But what is real survives with a smile and a loving heart. Beating for you and me. I notice that I can now share this moment with you. That I also want to write it, that in this way it may also find its own loving path, with relevance in these times of so much monotonous individualism,” says Dinand.

The singer says he wants ‘no sympathy messages’. ‘No sadness and all that. That ship has sailed a long time ago‘, he explains. ‘It’s a new day. Give it your best. We’ll all love it. And yes… More than before perhaps. We all need it. Everything is connected. Everywhere. With love.’

Guusje died in 2004 at the age of 34. Shortly before her death, it was announced that she was suffering from breast cancer. Together with Dinand she gave birth to son Dean Maddy Woesthoff.

Johnny de Mol also reflects on the anniversary of Guusje’s death. He was good friends with her. The two worked together Good times Bad Times and lived opposite each other. He posts an old photo of himself with Guusje on Instagram:
