United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over the decision by the Afghan Taliban to prevent girls from attending universities.
On Tuesday, the Taliban agreed to indefinitely ban university education for women in Afghanistan, according to a letter sent by the Ministry of Higher Education to all public and private universities.
The letter, signed by Minister Nada Muhammad Nadeem, said: “I inform all of you to implement the above order to halt girls’ education until further notice.”
