Former Chelsea midfielder Gustavo Poyet, who now works with the Greek national team, has changed his mind about the London signing of Shakhtar winger Mykhailo Mudrik this winter.
“Last season I made a mistake and I’m not afraid to say it. When Chelsea signed Mihail Mudrik, I thought it was an outstanding achievement. I thought: ‘Wow, what an incredible player!’ Then I remembered what happened to me and with many other foreign players when they first came to England – everyone is different and we all need different amounts of time to adapt to different football.”
We think we’re good enough and we say, “Tomorrow I’ll play and be the best on the field”, but football is different and life is different – we all adapt in our time. I think that new players and foreigners – including me when I played – should be careful because I know what can happen to each of them,” Poyet said.
