One of the main points of his speech was energy consumption in the United States and Latin America. According to Petro, the United States consumes approximately 1,200 gigawatts per year, while Latin America has the potential to generate up to 1,500 gigawatts per year.

In this context, The president mentioned the possibility of attracting investments close to 500 billion dollars that could be allocated to the region.although he expressed frustration that those funds have been prioritized for domestic energy consumption in the United States.

“Whoever has the energy has the power,” said the head of state, questioning North America’s reluctance to cede resources to the south of the continent.
