The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, landed this Thursday for the third time in Caracas, to have a meeting with Nicolás Maduro, after bilateral relations were reestablished last year.
Through a brief pass, on the Venezuelan State Television channel (VTV), Petro and Maduro meet at the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural House, located in La Carlota, Miranda state,
Petro is accompanied by his foreign minister, Álvaro Leyva, the Colombian ambassador to Venezuela, Armando Benedetti, and the head of the Office of the Presidency, Laura Sarabia Torres.
On the Chavista side, the spokesperson for the Maduro regime, Delcy Rodríguez, Foreign Minister Yván Gil; and the president of the Maduro Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.
Maduro and Petro have met three times, two of them in the Miraflores palace, and the last time, on February 17, at a border bridge shared by the two countries, where they signed agreements to increase bilateral trade.
This Thursday’s meeting has the mission of following up on issues addressed in previous meetings, as reported to EFE by the Presidency of Colombia.
Initially, the meeting of the duo was scheduled for the past holiday Monday, March 20.
Now, with the new date and taking into account high-ranking sources from the Casa de Nariño, the meeting will carefully review the impact of the reopening of the border and the reactivation of diplomatic relations between Colombia and Venezuela.
