The name of a player who belongs to Corinthians was on the agenda this Monday. Gustavo Mantuan, striker loaned to Zenit, should remain in Russia. At least that’s what William de Oliveira, assistant coach of the Russian club, says.
In an interview with the website “Sport Day by Day”, the Brazilian professional who works at Zenit treated the possibility of Mantuan staying in Russia as “very likely”. The assistant highlighted the importance of the player in the team and said that the final decision is up to the club.
“It is very likely that Mantuan will remain at the club after this season. He is a great football player, young and talented. He is a great asset for our club, he scored important goals in important games. But it’s up to the club to decide whether to keep him”, said William de Oliveira.
In addition, the assistant said that the attacker who belongs to Corinthians can obtain a Russian passport. With that, Mantuan would stop being a foreigner and gain more opportunities within Zenit.
“Maybe Gustavo Mantuan wants a Russian passport. This theme quietly develops with him. You see, everything comes from the desire of the player himself. He likes Russia a lot, like other Brazilians. Mantuan is very satisfied here”, said the professional.
The young player, it is worth remembering, was involved in the first negotiation with Zenit for the arrival of Yuri Alberto to Timão. At the time, just last year, the agreement was a loan with a purchase option. To have the player, the Russian club must disburse 10 million euros, which is equivalent to about R$ 55 million, for 80% of the athlete’s economic rights.
