“Gus Nur Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison for Hate Speech and Blasphemy”

The defendant was accused of hate speech, ITE, and blasphemy Sugi NurRahardja (Gus Nur) was sentenced to 6 years in prison. The panel of judges believes that Gus Nur has been proven guilty of broadcasting fake news about President Jokowi’s diploma, causing a commotion.

This decision was read out at the Solo District Court, Tuesday (18/4/2023). The trial was chaired by a panel of judges Moch Yuli Hadi, with members Hadi Sunoto and Bambang Aryanto.

“Sentenced a criminal sentence on Sugi Nur Rahardja for 6 years,” said chairman of the panel of judges Moch Yuli Hadi, when reading the verdict, reported detikJateng.

The judge considered that Gus Nur was proven to have violated Article 14 paragraph 1 of RI Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning General Criminal Regulations in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code as stated in the primary primary indictment, regarding chaos.

In this case, a number of items of evidence were seized, such as 1 flash disk contains uploaded videos channel YouTube Gus Nur 13 Official, two pages screenshot video posting on Gus Nur 13 Official YouTube account, two units of chairs, camera, stand micand others.

This sentence was lighter than the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU), who demanded 10 years in prison for Gus Nur.

Prosecutor’s demands
