PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto agrees with Gus Ipul PBNU’s statement regarding candidates in the 2024 presidential election supported by Abu Bakar Ba’asyir not needing to be elected (CNN Indonesia/Thohirin)

Secretary General of PDIP, HAsto Kristiyanto agreed with PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul who asked NU members not to vote for candidates supported by Abu Bakar Ba’asyir and Amien Rais in 2024 presidential election.
It is known that the candidates supported by Abu Bakar Ba’asyir and Amien Rais in the 2024 presidential election are Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar. Meanwhile, Hasto is the secretary general of PDIP who supports Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
“Yes, that agrees with Gus Ipul, that’s top, Gus Ipul,” said Hasto at the TPN Ganjar-Mahfud Media Center, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (17/1).
Previously, Gus Ipul asked NU residents to exercise their right to vote in the 2024 presidential election by choosing candidates who comply with NU principles.
Specifically, he asked NU residents not to vote for the candidate pair supported by Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.
“We should not support a partner who is supported by people who are at odds with the way NU people think. Like the candidate supported by Abu Bakar Ba’asyir for example, especially since there is Amien Rais too,” said Gus Ipul in his statement, Tuesday (16/1).
“We have to be wary of other groups that are at odds with NU, especially if they are just being lured by the position of vice president. Don’t choose this group,” he said.
Gus Ipul did not clearly state who the presidential and vice presidential candidates supported by Abu Bakar Ba’asyir and Amin Rais were. However, both of them have recently supported the AMIN couple.
This statement has pros and cons. Vice presidential candidate number 1 Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin considers Gus Ipul to be inconsistent with PBNU’s stance.
Cak Imin reminded that PBNU had taken a stance not to take sides in the presidential election. For him, if there are individuals who take sides in the presidential election, it is a shameful act.
Meanwhile, the Advisory Board of the National Winning Team (TPN) Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, Yenny Wahid supports Gus Ipul. According to him, groups that are at odds with Pancasila values do not need to be given space in political contestation.
“So in that context, Gus Ipul’s words as Secretary General of PBNU are actually appropriate,” he said at the High End Building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (17/1).
