Chief PBNU Ahmad Fahrur Rozi (Gus Fahrur) strongly criticized videos on YouTube that allegedly insulted Islam and the Prophet Muhammad SAW. He asked Bareskrim Polri to immediately investigate the maker and disseminator of the video content.
“We strongly condemn anyone who makes an animated video that insults Rasulullah SAW, the noblest and most respected human being of Muslims on earth. We encourage Bareskrim Polri to immediately act quickly to investigate and take firm action on who is the perpetrator and distributor of the video,” said Gus Fahrur to journalists, Friday (18/8/2023).
Gus Fahrur said the video content insulted the Prophet Muhammad and Islam. According to him, the video could anger Muslims and undermine the conducive atmosphere in the country for the 2024 elections.
“A rubbish video like that has the potential to damage the conducive atmosphere and security of a country that is starting to get busy with election matters. Don’t let Muslims get angry and riot like fire doused with gasoline,” he said.
He urged the police to immediately arrest the perpetrators who made and distributed the video.
“Islamophobia does not express freedom of expression guaranteed by human rights and the Indonesian Constitution, let alone the Pancasila ideology. For the sake of religious harmony and upholding the rule of law and justice in Indonesia, the police should arrest and detain the perpetrators,” he said.
Bareskrim Investigate Video Allegedly Insulting Prophet Muhammad
Previously, Bareskrim Polri investigated a YouTube channel that allegedly insulted the Prophet Muhammad SAW. The Director of Cybercrime at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Adi Vivid Agustiadi Bachtiar, said that his party was conducting an investigation.
“It is in progress (investigation),” said Adi Vivid when contacted, Friday (18/8).
Seen detikcom on Friday (18/9) this YouTube channel contains an animated video that tells about the Prophet Muhammad. This YouTube channel called Sunnah Nabi claims to feature animated videos about the Prophet Muhammad.
This YouTube channel has uploaded a total of 29 videos and has been watched by more than 1 million people.
