Teasing Ferdinand Hutahaean juxtaposed with the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia and the former General Chair of PBNU, Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) reap criticism. A number of parties do not accept the teasing of the two being equated.
To be known, Ferdinand has been reported to Bareskim because he was the one who said ‘It’s a pity your God is weak and must be defended …’. Ferdinand’s teasing was then juxtaposed with Gus Dur’s sentence that once said ‘God does not need to be defended’.
Some parties do not accept teasing Ferdinand equated with Gus Dur’s sentence. They considered Ferdinand’s joke to have a very different meaning from Gus Dur’s sentence.

GP Ansor Calls Ferdinand’s Satire Blasphemy
Chairman of PP GP Ansor, Luqman Hakim, asked for a joke ‘Your God is weak’ Ferdinand Hutahaean Gus Dur is not the same. Luqman said that Gus Dur never judged that the God someone believed in was weak and had to be defended.
“In my opinion, Ferdinand Hutahaean’s tweet ‘It’s a pity that your God is weak and must be defended…’ is not the same as Gus Dur’s sentence, which once said ‘God doesn’t need to be defended’. In fact, Gus Dur emphasized that God does not need to be defended because God is Strong and Powerful,” said Luqman in a written statement, Friday (1/7/2022).
Luqman said that Ferdinand’s teasing had the potential to make a fuss. The reason, continued Luqman, Ferdinand’s teasing is alleged to have insulted certain religions.
“While Ferdinand’s teasing, in my opinion, can be categorized as an attack of insult and blasphemy against a particular religion, has the potential to cause riot and hostility with religious nuances and disrupt public peace and order. It is very different between Ferdinand’s teasing and Gus Dur’s words. And therefore, do not be equated between the two! ” said Luqman.
PKS Calls Ferdinand Humiliating God
The chairman of the PKS DPP, Bukhori Yusuf, assessed that Ferdinand Hutahaean seemed to be condescending to God. Bukhori explained the difference between Ferdinand Hutahaean’s tweet and Gus Dur’s statement. He said that Gus Dur showed that Allah had power over everything, while Ferdinand demeaned Allah with the word ‘weak’.
“Yes, of course it’s not the same. Gus Dur’s statement shows that God is in control of everything so he doesn’t need anyone’s help, let alone his servant whom he created himself, while Ferdinand’s teasing can be understood to be demeaning to God, because it is characterized by weak words,” he said. This member of Commission VIII DPR requested that Ferdinand Hutahaean further deepen his religion. He also advised that in the future Ferdinand Hutahaean would be wiser in his words and actions.
“Brother Ferdinand Hutahaean should study his religion more, to be wiser and say and act,” he said.
