Well, the platform is pretty big though. Both iPhones and iPads also support this. So you can release AAA games with these APIs. You will only need to release a mobile and simpler version for the iPhones and iPads and implement additional features for the macs .
But in total, the platform with those APIs is sufficient to be interesting for developers. Within 3 years, high-end games will also be available for the Mac and I(pad)OS, although the IOS version will of course not be able to display all the graphic violence.
I think it will go like this:
1. There will gradually be AAA games for the Mac in the coming years.
2. Sales of Macs will also increase because of this.
3. After building up a nice game library for the Mac, Apple sees opportunities to generate more sales and wants to create its own closed game/app store for high-end games (only does not generate much income on the Mac platform, download is possible , other AppStores can also be there)
4. Apple comes with a relatively cheap Apple TV pro / game console with a cheaper / stripped down m3 (?) pro / max chip (less video encoding, ai , io and low performance cores) and a closed tvOS with its own app / game store with a commission of 30%.
