2022 had to be the year of the ‘Apple Glass’, the augmented and/or virtual reality viewer that the company plans to launch according to rumors. However, and according to have you heard mark gurman, some apparent problems in the design and operation of the device they can postpone that launch until 2023.
Too polished for a summer presentation
Bloomberg sources have claimed that Apple has problems with cameras and viewer software, to which are added overheating problems. Let’s remember that there are leaks indicating that the charger of that device would be 96W, which suggests a lot of power stuck to our face.
Cupertino’s initial plan would have been to introduce the headset at WWDC22 in June, but that may now be pushed back to the end of the year or even 2023. Apple is seeking to convince the market that VR goggles and headsets may have a utility beyond a very specific type of games. As it happened in a certain way with the Apple Watch, there would be a first time to ‘settle’ in the market and then grow.

Let’s remember that these are all rumours, so we shouldn’t lament or complain about a product that doesn’t yet exist and about which nothing has been officially said. Apple already has a very chaotic schedule with the development and evolution of all its products and operating systems, and creating another division out of thin air doesn’t have to be easy. Better that they take longer and release it more polished than not going against the clock.
