Guri Solberg: – About tough times:

At the end of October, host Guri Solberg (44) shared an open post on Instagram. It revealed the background for why she had taken a break from her podcast “Good ladies”.

The pandemic we are in was of course one of the reasons, but she admitted that there was another reason behind it.

“Sometimes stomach aches and bad feelings also creep into the funniest projects with the best people. In recent years, I have dreaded more and more things, and had palpitations and self-doubt in situations where I have previously felt like a queen “, was among what Solberg shared.

Furthermore, the host admitted that the idea that she can not continue, neither with podcasts nor television, has crossed her mind. However, she pointed out that what she described as “pessimism” has been temporary.

In the post, Solberg announced that she had finished the break, and that she thought it was appropriate that she also shared how she feels, since she has a wish that “Good ladies” should be a safe place to share the messy sides of life.

An agitation in the body

This week, Solberg is a guest on the podcast “Crisis meetings”, and there she goes into more detail on the break and the feelings she has felt in recent years. In the podcast, Solberg explains that it is difficult for her to know when such feelings appear and where they come from.

The only thing she knows is that they came at a time when she was having fun at work. Still, she felt what she describes as a string that stood tensing and trembling inside her.

In March, she canceled her upcoming jobs to take a break. The critic she had in her head was constantly going at this point, and she describes that it felt completely invincible.

On top of it all came the corona, which came at the right time for Solberg, who finally got to use the time to find out his feelings and get back on his feet. She went to therapy and practiced controlling her emotions.

– I am a lady with a hip attachment and a twinkle in her eye. I have even been asked by journalists: “do not you feel that you have surfed a little through life”? People are a little provoked that I am so cheerful and happy. I’m upper middle class in the world’s richest country, I’m lucky in almost every area of my life. But I also have a darkness in a way, she continues.

Solberg admits that she has spent a lot of time acknowledging that she also deserves help. This is due to the fact that there are many who have bigger problems than her.

When she is asked if she has found out where the feelings come from, Solberg answers that she has previously been told that it could be a 40-year crisis. This embarrassed her, while pointing out that in many ways it is.

– I’m not young and promising anymore. I have not had such demanding tasks at work, so I have lost my confidence a bit. I have not had anything to worry about. I have a strange job that is tiring in a different way than if you are an accountant. The sum of those things is one part of it, and the other part is things that sit a little deeper, like challenges and thought patterns I have had that have not been any good, she says.

Dagbladet has been in contact with Guri Solberg who states that she has nothing to add to the case.

– A small bump in the stomach

Solberg has previously admitted to See and listen that she got to know a little about the 40-year crisis when a media report appeared about her.

– Well, it was a little strange when I saw it in print for the first time: “Guri Solberg (40)”. I got a little bump in the stomach then, she admitted.

However, it was another birthday as the host thought was a little worse than the “infamous” 40th birthday.

– I actually stressed more when I was 36, because then I was suddenly closer to 40 than 30. But it’s okay to be 40, it feels good, she continued.

Solberg has a long career behind him as a presenter. She has been seen as the host of “Shall we dance”, “X Factor”, “Summertime”, “Adventurous Norwegians”, to name a few. For the past three years, however, she has directed the TV 2 program “Sommerhytta”.
