– Self-sufficient functional land in Topyeong District 2 and creation of new growth innovation industries in Sa-nod Techno Valley –
[구리시 세계타임즈=송민수 기자] Guri City (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyeon) is planning to develop new growth innovative industries on urban support facility land (self-sufficient functional land) within the Guri Topyeong 2 public housing district (hereinafter referred to as Topyeong 2 district) and on the Techno Valley land within the Sa-noong e-commerce new growth high-tech city. In order to attract investors, we started full-scale benchmarking.
Topyeong District 2 is an area that the government announced as a new housing site candidate in November last year as a follow-up measure to the “Housing Supply Stimulation Plan,” and is aiming to be designated as a district in the first half of next year.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, this is a city where high-quality residential complexes with specialized views of the Han River, including residential land, a new growth innovation industrial complex, a cultural complex, a mixed-use center, and a public facility complex, as well as self-sufficient facilities for job creation and leisure and rest areas near the water, are well combined. A blueprint was put forward to create a .
Sanod Techno Valley is currently making every effort to pass the preliminary feasibility study with the goal of creating an economically self-sufficient city by attracting companies and research facilities (R&D) based on the 4th industry such as medical, bio, and ICT (information and communication technology).
Guri City visited the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) Pangyo Project Team on the 24th to learn about the best practices of Pangyo Techno Valley, a representative example of a self-sufficient city.
In addition, on the 30th, we visited Ilsan Techno Valley and Goyang City Hall, which is focusing on creating a ‘Goyang-type Silicon Valley’ after being designated as a free economic zone, and compared and observed successful cases of attracting companies and investment attraction activities of local governments.
In addition, we plan to visit and benchmark cities such as Yangju, Gyeonggi-do and Wonju, Gangwon-do, which are successfully creating techno valleys.
Through this benchmarking, the city plans to apply Techno Valley’s cooperation ecosystem between companies, cases of improving residential conditions, and strategies for attracting anchor companies and foreign companies to suit Guri City’s circumstances.
While planning the Guri Techno Valley, the city conducted a demand survey on the intention to move in and secured letters of intention to move in from a total of 272 companies as of October, achieving 663% of the demand area and is busy by signing MOUs with 18 companies.
A city official said, “We are not satisfied with this and will continue to conduct additional investigations, but considering the locational characteristics of Topyeong District 2 and Sano-dong Techno Valley, we are also preparing measures to avoid duplication of attracting industries and complement each other.”
Mayor Baek Kyeong-hyun asked, “I hope that you will look at advanced cases, establish specific business attraction strategies, and thoroughly prepare to create a high-tech enterprise city foundation and expand infrastructure so that Guri Techno Valley can be implemented as soon as possible.”
