Gunungkidul Youth Shot Dead: Gunman Named a Suspect

Gunungkidul youth named Aldi Apriyanto (19) was shot dead by First Brigadier Muhammad Kharisma’s gun during a hamlet clean-up event accompanied by a musical performance. Gunungkidul Police Chief, AKBP Edy Bagus apologized for the incident.

Reported detikJateng, Tuesday (16/5) Edy’s request was posted on the Gunungkidul Police Instagram account, @polres.gunungkidul. Edy also expressed his condolences for Aldi’s death.

“I am AKBP Edy Bagus Sumantri, SIK as the Gunungkidul Police Chief, allow me to take this opportunity to express my apologies and offer my deepest condolences for the death of our brother Aldi Apriyanto,” as quoted by detikJateng, Monday (15/5/2023).

First Brigadier Muhammad Kharisma A (28) or First Brigadier MK has also been named a suspect. Edy said that his party would process the case professionally.

“The incident was unintentional, namely that our brother, a resident of the Nglindur Village, Kapanewon Girisubo, Gunungkidul Regency, was hit by an explosion from a firearm by a member who was carrying out security for a dangdut music performance,” he said.

“Regarding this incident, we Polri will be professional and resolve the case, and invite all citizens to remain calm and not be easily provoked, because this case has been handled and investigated by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the DIY Police and the Special Bid Propam of the DIY Police,” he continued.

Edy hopes that similar incidents will not be repeated. He also asked the community to work together to keep the Kamtibmas situation safe and conducive.

“I also ask the whole community to jointly maintain the Kamtibmas situation so that it remains safe and conducive not to be affected by untrue news, and I hope this incident will be the last. Thank you so much from me. Wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,” he added.
