Poet and musician Guntars Račs is one of the few who had the courage to say clearly and unequivocally – his concert, which was canceled and postponed last year, will not take place.
Guntars Račs’ 55th anniversary concert “Liepājnieku dziesmas” was supposed to take place on March 28 last year in the arena of Liepāja Olympic Center. The author had invited his closest friends and comrades from the groups “Liepājas brāļi”, “Līvi”, “Credo”, “Saldās sejas” and “bet bet” to it, as well as Ivo Fomina and other well – known soloists, but due to restrictions on gatherings, the concert has already had to be postponed twice. It should take place on April 24, but even now gatherings and performances are not possible, so the concert is canceled. If tickets to the event are purchased in the online store www.bilesuparadize.lv, then the money will be transferred to the ticket buyer’s bank account without the customer’s request. If the tickets are purchased at the “Biļešu Paradīze” box office, people are invited to go to the nearest box office. “Please exchange the purchased tickets by April 30,” the organizers inform.
“Sad. Very sad. I’m really sorry from the bottom of my heart. More than 2,000 listeners had bought tickets to the concert. Many told me to move again [koncertu]and that they are willing to wait. However, I am well aware that for many people, investing in tickets can be very useful at the moment, because time is not the easiest for anyone. That’s why I decided to cancel the concert completely and refund the ticket money, ”admits Guntars Račs. “None of us knows when such a large number of listeners will be able to gather in the hall again. But I believe that such a moment will come, and we will put on the biggest drum kits, the loudest amplifiers and a thorough party with the old, good “Liv” and “but bet” hits! “
Now Guntars Račs continues to work on the third part of the book of poems “365”, publishing a new poem on Facebook every day. The book will be published in August, and if possible, it will be marked with a special concert in Dzintari Concert Hall on August 21. And yet – the group “but bet” is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and plans to give more than 25 concerts on the largest and smallest outdoor stages throughout Latvia. “I miss our meetings very much. I hope that at least part of our plans will come true in the summer, and we will meet again in person, ”says Guntars.
