Last week, police officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lipsk received information that an 80-year-old resident of the Lipsk district may have illegal weapons, which he probably hides in beehives. The detectives immediately went to search the man’s home. The man was completely surprised by the police visit. The police, having information that the weapons may be in the beehives, prepared themselves for the search accordingly. One of the officers, who is passionate about beekeeping, took with him appropriate clothing, which provided him with protection.

After entering the property, it turned out that practically the entire property was filled with ammunition and objects resembling weapons. Already at the initial stage of the inspection, several firearms, live ammunition and pneumatic weapons were identified. In addition, 283 pieces of various types and calibers of ammunition, for which a permit is required, were secured. The remaining dozen or so pieces of pneumatic weapons bearing visible signs of being converted into cartridges for slaughtering animals, revolvers and gas weapons were secured for the purpose of the proceedings and in the course of the proceedings, the expert will issue an appropriate opinion, on the basis of which it will be known whether their possession was also prohibited or whether it posed a threat.

The police discovered part of the home arsenal in the walls of empty hives in the apiary. After opening the top lid of the hives, there was no visible hidden objects. The police only revealed the weapons after unscrewing the strips securing the hives.

The man was placed in police custody and has already been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without a permit. He now faces up to 8 years in prison.
