Gunmen open fire on house of Muhammad Ahmad Al-Hajj in Kamed Al-Lawz: Lebanese Army urged to act

Last night, unidentified persons opened fire with their machine guns towards the house of Muhammad Ahmed Al-Hajj in Kamed Al-Lawz and hit the house with dozens of explosive bullets that settled in the facades of the house, the tiles and the car, and some bullets penetrated the interior of the house.

The shooting at the house of Hajj Muhammad Ahmad Al-Hajj came after the latter received several threats in connection with the kidnapping of his uncle, the expatriate businessman Badie Mohieddin Al-Hajj, and the subsequent arrest of the person called Hadi Hussein Al-Hajj, the main accused in the kidnapping, who is still in detention. All of the following were also arrested: Jad Talal Dishoum, Adnan Mahmoud Yassin and Ahmed Bashir Othman.

In the face of this armed attack, the security and military forces began their investigations, and more than 13 bullets were counted, hitting the house of Hajj Muhammad Ahmad Al-Hajj.

In this context, the people of Kamed al-Luz and the activities of the West Bekaa sent a distress message to the leadership of the Lebanese Army and all the security and military services and the Lebanese judiciary to expedite the arrest of the perpetrators of this strange incident to the people and villages of the West Bekaa.

A statement signed by the people of the Western Bekaa and Kamed al-Luz called for “an iron hand to strike anyone who dares to commit acts of bullying and attacking citizens.”

He stressed, “the necessity of stopping and confronting the terrorist and security-disrupting acts carried out by the relatives of those arrested and those involved, who continue to issue various threats on a daily basis, and all security services are aware of this matter.”

The statement stressed their “confidence in the Lebanese Army, the security forces, the Information Division, and the integrity of the judiciary, which did not hesitate to expand the investigation and take the necessary measures.”

He also demanded, “Considering the kidnapping a terrorist crime and not a temporary deprivation of freedom. Rather, the kidnapping created an atmosphere of fear and terror among the residents of the Western Bekaa, most of whom are expatriates who spent their years in exile and insisted on returning to their villages and implementing investments to revitalize their villages and not abandon their families, and it is not permissible to be complacent.” Or leniency in striking the hand that extends to citizens and expatriates.”

The statement continued, “We all know that kidnapping crimes and failure to deter them strongly will turn the region into a permissible arena for criminals. This will lead to a second migration of expatriates and the cessation of their investments, which will reflect an additional deterioration in the economic reality.”

Badie Al-Hajj and his relatives, who also received similar threats, refuse to conduct reconciliation, close the judicial file, and release Hadi, demanding expansion of the investigation. The family insists on proceeding with the judicial process, noting that security information indicates that “there are more than ten people involved in the kidnapping, most of them Kamed Al-Lawz and Majdal Anjar, while the number of those arrested is only four.”

Badie Al-Hajj, an expatriate businessman, had been kidnapped some time ago by the arrested Hadi Al-Hajj, with the goal of extortion and a financial ransom. The Intelligence Directorate in the Bekaa at the time, in cooperation with the 3rd Brigade and the 6th Intervention Regiment in the Lebanese Army, and the patrols of the Information Division, worked to arrest him hours after his crime and take him to the competent court, while his brother Khaled fled for weeks, then surrendered himself to Army Intelligence and was then released.
