Gunde Svan breaks down as a guest at Renée’s dock.
Tears start to flow when the skiing legend talks about his children.
– It has probably gotten worse over the years, says the 61-year-old in the TV4 program.
Gunde Svan tells about his children Ferry and Julia to Renée Nyberg.
After the successful cross-country skiing career, they have been most important in his life.
– The important thing has been to still be a parent, I feel. Although we have such grown-up children, says Gunde Svan.
In the program he is described as an emotional person who is often close to crying.
– It already started when we had children, that I have tears very, very easily. It was enough for them to do something at school and I could start crying. It definitely came with the children, says Gunde Svan.
Thinking of grandpa
It is when he thinks of grandfather that Gunde Svan is most strongly touched.
– I’m very interested in “forestry”, it’s something I can do and have been doing for quite some time. Like my father, I have thought that I will leave behind something better than what I had when I arrived. I think of grandfather, he was the role model for me that I want to be for my children, says Gunde Svan.
Mrs. Marie Svan (formerly Johansson) and he had Julia Svan in 1993 (age 30) and Ferry Svan in 1996 (age 27).
Gunde Svan won, among other things, four Olympic golds, seven World Cup golds and five overall victories in the World Cup during the active elite years 1982–1991.
