Storm Gdynia will lead the team for the fifth season in a row. This season, under his leadership, “Arka” basketball players triumphed in the Polish championship, won the national cup and the Super Cup. With the Storm at the wheel “Arka” has won two Polish championship titles.
In the FIBA Euroleague Main Event, the Polish club lost in all six games this season.
During the coach’s career, the storm has led both men’s and women’s teams. From 2003 to 2005 and in the 2006/2007 season, the specialist trained the Barons / LMT unit, while in the 2006 season he was the second coach of the Russian club Perm “Ural Great”.
The Storm continued to work with women’s clubs from 2007 to 2011, initially training the Russian team at CSKA in Moscow, but then taking over the UGMK team from Ekaterinburg, winning the country’s championship several times.
In 2011, Vētra returned to the helm of the men’s team and won the silver medals of the Latvian Championship with the “Ventspils” club. However, after the season, the club and coach decided not to continue cooperation. He then returned to Russia and for one season led the men’s teams Vladivostok “Spartak” and St. Petersburg “Dinamo”, but from 2014 to 2016 was the helmsman of the women’s unit Kursk “Dinamo”.
Vētra is a favorite for the position of the head coach of the Latvian women’s basketball team.
During the 1992/1993 season, Storm played for the Timberwolves of Minnesota at the National Basketball Association (NBA), which scored an average of 3.5 points in 13 matches.
