Price, reliability and speed determine success
The company in Grimma near Leipzig is quite small, it has ten employees, but the range of products is quite large. The specialty of the medium-sized company is rubber blanks.
There are, for example, anti-slip mats with different levels of friction and in a wide variety of sizes for the logistics sector, wood industry, mechanical engineering and construction industry. The range also includes insulation for damping vibrations, separating layers, seals and profiles. Everything is supplied self-adhesive or non-adhesive.
In addition, the employees manufacture and lay plastic films for sealing swimming pools, ponds or rain retention systems. “Our market is very competitive,” reports Müller openly. “You can distinguish yourself through price, reliability, speed and flexibility.”
Company keeps machines and equipment up to date
In order for this to work, a large and modern CAD-controlled machine park is available. “This way we can meet all potential requirements,” says the managing director, who is the third generation to run the family business.
In order to stand out from competitors in terms of price, Müller is increasingly buying the material directly from international manufacturers – without a wholesaler as an intermediate supplier. “That saves a lot of costs,” explains the managing director. The profits are invested in the company and thus keep machines and equipment up to date.
The boss also lends a hand on the machine
Incidentally, the boss is not too good for manual labor. Whether press, water jet cutting system, strip, roll cutting and parting machine – Müller is familiar with all devices. And when there is a need, the lawyer who took over the business from his father in 2007 works hard in production.
With so few employees, everyone has to be able to do everything. Müller would like to hire new people: “They have to be hardworking, flexible and have experience with CAD machines,” he says.
In the next few weeks, however, the company will mainly focus on construction work. The machine hall gets an extension – the previous space is simply no longer sufficient.
