The “Dementia Choir” won the prize

One of the best prizes awarded on Friday evening is the audience prize. It is the only award for which the audience and the Norwegian people get to vote for their TV favourite. There were ten candidates for this year’s audience award, but it was NRK’s ”Dementia Choir” who walked away with the award.

There was a standing ovation for the “Dementia Choir” when presenter Ingrid Gjessing Linhave and choir member Jan Runar Eliassen (48) entered the stage, who were obviously moved to tears after the victory.

Nettavisen met a very moved and grateful Eliassen, who could hardly believe that they walked away with the audience award.

– It feels absolutely extreme. Because you sit there, then you have hope, then you see the chances just disappear and disappear. But then we run away with the most important award, which the people vote for. And that means so much.

After the programme’s success, Jan Runar Eliassen has been treated in a completely different way than before:

– You are welcomed in a completely different way in everyday life compared to how it has been before. Now people dare to talk to me again.

Rest after closure: Run away with given price

The popular talk show “Kåss til kvelds” ran away with the award for best entertainment program on Friday night.

At the end of February, it became known that “Kåss til kvelds” was closed as a result of NRK having to cut NOK 300 million in 2023. The decision to close the program, which Else Kåss Furuseth (42) led, caused several people to react and the Broadcasting Council received over 700 complaints.

The reactions also hailed because when it became known that the popular program had to be cut, NRK was very vague about Sophie Elise Isachsen’s (28) future in the channel.

It was clear that the presenter’s partner, Markus Neby, was hoping for a victory already on the red carpet.

Won honorable mention

The honorary award is one of Gullruten’s highest awards, and the award is given to honor people or programs that have impressed over a long period of time in the TV industry. This year’s honorary prize was awarded to journalist and author Sidsel Wold (64).

There were cheers and applause in Grieghallen when Wold was awarded the honorary award.

– This was a big surprise. I am immensely grateful for this. I am very fond of people, regardless of where they are in the world, and I think it is so important to show perspectives. I have always treated everyone with respect no matter who they are, Wold said from the stage.

She has worked at NRK for a number of years and has been a foreign correspondent for over 20 years. She has primarily worked as NRK’s correspondent primarily in the Middle East.

Tribute to the fiancé

In the category best lifestyle program it was Linnea Myhres, “Søvnløs” who ran away with the victory. Myhre has struggled with sleep for much of her life, and is therefore documenting her journey to get rid of the sleep problem with the camera crew in tow. Often it was Myhre’s fiancé, Emil Gukild, who was behind the camera.

It was a very moved Myhre who accepted the award on Friday evening, and she paid tribute to her fiancé:

– He has been absolutely invaluable, I bow in the dust for being so patient, he is never angry or frustrated at my whining. He has been so incredibly important. Emil should have half the price, at least.

– Never won anything in my life

One of the first awards to be handed out was this year’s celebrity contestant. The nominees for the category included Aleksander Sæterstøl, Calle Hellevang-Larsen and Tim Kristian.

The award went to Aleksander Sæterstøl (27), who became one of the favorites during this year’s season of “Farmen kendis”. It was particularly the humor of the Bergen native and his friendship with Aslak Maurstad that seemed to strike a chord with the TV viewers.

– I did not expect that at all. It’s too much, really, says Aleksander Sæterstøl to Nettavisen.

– I’m very upset, my God. I never thought I would win anything. I have never won anything in my entire life, it is very nice, he adds.

The recent prize winner has difficulty believing that he just walked away with the prize. Although “the whole” of Norway knows that Sæterstøl ran away with the prize, not everyone knows. Among other things, his girlfriend, Martine Lunde:

– Have you spoken to Martine?

– She is very excited, but I haven’t bothered to say anything to her.

Won for the fourth time

The popular TV 2 program “Kompani Lauritzen” is often a viewer favorite and has previously been very successful on the Gullruten. When the award for best competition-driven reality was handed out, “Kompanie Lauritzen” won for the fourth year in a row.

– I would like to thank the TV viewers for caring about us. I am incredibly proud of the participants who have taken part, said Dag Otto Lauritzen from the stage in Bergen.

Lauritzen’s partner, Kristian Ødegård, took the opportunity to thank Rauna municipality and Setnesmoen for their cooperation, as the program has moved its recording location to Voss.

– What was it like when they read out your name?

– The day Otto dropped a fart, Ødegård joked to Nettavisen.

To Nettavisen, captain John Hammersmark says that it is very nice to win an award for the program they work so hard for:

– There are good people both in front of and behind the camera, so it’s great that people like it. We will celebrate like soldiers do, and that’s proper, said the satisfied captain.

Bring on the sting

NRK’s ”The Debate” is also a lucky winner on Friday evening. Fredrik Solvang (45) won the award for best presenter in news, sport or current affairs. He used the opportunity to make a call to the Norwegian people:

– It is quite magical to gather so many viewers in a declining TV market. It is meant as a serious reminder, because it constitutes a power and it balances the power of the politicians and those in power. That is why I think it is important to receive such an award, because it shows that there is still a lot of influence in television and political journalism, said Solvang from the stage and continued:

– Everyone who does not take part in the “Debate” should also know that it is no more dangerous than coming and answering the questions. Come and answer the question and be done with it!

Solvang has led “Debatten” since 2018, when he took over from Ingunn Solheim. The job of presenter has apparently not always been easy for Solvang, and this week during Nordic Media Days in Bergen he revealed that he has considered quitting his job several times.

It came out during a conversation with Torbjørn Røe Isaksen, and he also talked about why he uses social media to a very small extent.

Won his very first Gullruten

It is not just reality that will be honored tonight. TV series are also to be honoured, especially those who have had supporting roles in the popular series that have been seen on the TV screen in the past year.

Among the nominees for best supporting actress are Mariann Hole for “Made in Oslo”, Jakob Oftebro for “Kids in Crime”, and Vivild Falk Berg for “Pørni”.

On the red carpet, Oftebro told Nettavisen that this is the first time he has attended the award ceremony. At least he will not go home empty-handed, as the award went to Oftebro for the TV 2 series “Kids in Crime”.

– Thank you very, very much. I thought I was going to steal this one. Østfold’s worst type, and rawest techno dancer is perhaps not the first thing you think of when you see me, he says and thanks Kenneth for getting the role.

The award for best actress of the year went to Pia Tjelta (45) for her role in the drama series “Made in Oslo”. Tjelta wins the award for the second year in a row, last year she won for “Lykkeland”.

– Damn it. I would never have thought that. So a thousand million thanks, said Tjelta from the stage.

However, the previous award ceremony was dramatic, when she discovered the following day that the award for best actor had disappeared without a trace. She quickly took to Instagram and called for the award, writing in a text message to Nettavisen a few days after the award was in safe hands.

Didn’t think it was possible

For the 25th year in a row, the Gullruten has been organized, and this year space has been made for a completely new award. The new award honors the best presenter in reality and lifestyle.

There was no shortage of presenters who were nominated, but in the end it was former cross-country runner Martin Johnsrud Sundby who was awarded the prize. Something he himself thought was unreal, especially because he had a rather strained relationship with the cameras.

– It was completely crazy. It’s not often that I’m completely speechless, I have to compose myself. I’ve had such a strained relationship with that TV camera for so many years, and now I’m standing here. Who would have imagined that? It has been a total turnaround, says a kry Johnsrud Sundby to Nettavisen.
