Ahmedabad : 36 lakh dairy farmers collectively get Rs 200 crore per day from Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). This is helping in enriching the people of the state. The size of the dairy sector in the state has reached Rs 1 lakh crore.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held in Gandhinagar from January 10 to 12 will provide a platform to the government to showcase the state’s rapid growth in agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry.

According to the statement issued by the government, the agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry sectors of the state are showing excellent growth through a combination of natural farming and advanced technologies. They are contributing to Gujarat’s resource efficient economy and enhancing the global reputation of the dairy sector.

“The upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024 will showcase the state’s rapid growth in agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry thanks to a combination of natural farming practices and cutting-edge technology,” Chief Minister Patel said at a recent event. This holistic approach is not only promoting resource efficient economy but also improving the state’s global position in the dairy sector.

According to the government statement, the dairy industry in Gujarat has crossed Rs 1 lakh crore. Rs 200 crore is paid daily to 36 lakh dairy farmers through GCMMF.

“The globally recognized Amul brand, under which GCMMF markets milk and dairy products, is a testament to the hard work of millions of dairy farmers,” the statement said.

R S Sodhi, president of the Indian Dairy Association and former managing director of GCMMF, said that Amul’s organized dairy procurement from Gujarat has increased nine times from 30 lakh liters to 270 lakh liters in 27 years. This reflects the progress made in the rural economy of the state in the last few years.

Shobhraj Rabari, a cowherd from Napad Vanto village in Anand district, said his family started the dairy business with two cows and now they have 35 cows.

“The Vibrant Gujarat Summit launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi helped us a lot…I supply 2,000 liters of milk per month,” he said. My income is Rs 1.10 lakh. We are getting good prices for milk. We are getting good support from the government.

Jayesh Patel, a dairy farmer from Zarola village of Borsad taluka of Anand, said, “This summit is important for me. Many people like me participate in this summit and get many benefits. I have continuously benefited from the Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
