British guitarist Keith Levene died on Friday at the age of 65. Levene was, among other things, the founder of the punk band The Clash. According to British media, he had been battling liver cancer for two years.
Levene was one of the most influential guitarists in Britain. In the seventies he founded the Clash together with guitarist Mick Jones. Levene left the Clash before the band achieved major success with singles such as The Magnificent Seven in Should I stay or should I go.
After the Clash, Levene formed the band Public Image Ltd. On. He did it with former Sex Pistols singer John Lydon. In the Netherlands, the group scored a hit with This Is not A Love Song.
