Guitarist Kaspars Zemītis with chamber choir “MoonBeams” offers spring pastoral music

K. Zemītis ‘virtuoso guitar playing and the concert program masterfully prepared by the chamber choir “MoonBeams” will offer listeners a spring pastoral meditative feeling, playing guitar solos with K. Zemītis’ original melodies and the latest choral compositions performed by the chamber choir “MoonBeams”. The concert will feature compositions by composers: A. Maskata, J. Lūsēna, J. Vaivoda, and J. Bernāta. A special place in the concert will be the world-famous composer of Ukrainian origin Valentin Silvestrov, whose music pays special attention to the aftermath, which is formed when the chord disappears. At the meditative end of the concert – “Mesa” for choir and guitar, written by K. Zemītis on behalf of VAK “Latvija” and conductor Māris Sirmas.

”Guitarist K. Zemītis is both a great master of his profession and a pleasant companion in any stage collaboration. The Mesa he composes embodies human simplicity for choir and guitar, where each of us can identify. Despite Mesa’s extremely low register, the music is organic and easy to understand, “says Nora Kalniņa, the choir’s conductor, adding that” our hearts this spring, when there is a struggle between light and darkness, are especially longing for the shining light that pervades. ” Mesu ””.

K. Zemītis continues about the concert series “Creation”: “This program is an opportunity for me to play” Mesu “together with a great choir, together with Nora Kalniņš, who is not only the leader of” MoonBeams “, but also the soul of this ensemble. “Creation” combines the guitar’s individual “singing” and the wide range of choral interactions. It is also a pleasure to hear brand new, recently created choral music works performed by this choir. We have received especially commendable words from previous listeners for the performance of the composition “Melancholic Waltz”. I hope to meet many more listeners in Dobele, Rūjiena and Ikšķile who crave quality and inspiring music. ”

Upcoming concerts on May 21 at 5 pm in Rūjiena St. Bertulis ev. lut. In the church and on June 12 at 11.30 in Ikšķile St. Meinarda ev. lut in the church. Entrance to the concert in Rūjiena for donations to repair the church organ. As part of the concert series “Creation”, concerts have already been performed in Sigulda and Kuldiga.
