Guitarist Gints Smukais has released the first single “Thaw” from the upcoming album “Thaw” / “Atkusnis” and invites to the opening concert of the album on July 31 “Atkusnis”, informed the musician’s representative Inga Zālīte. The concert will take place on a stage floating in the lake, which will be watched from the shore, as well as in boats and on SUP boards.

Zālīte pointed out that the sound of the second album and its mood can be felt in the composition “Thaw”.

“The composition came to me at an emotionally difficult stage in my life, when I was forced to announce less happy news to a close person. Its musical message reveals that it is sometimes not easy to face reality, because forced reform does not always come to life with ease. The composition’s remarkable rehearsal in rhythm and harmony, which reflects sleepless nights, circulating thoughts about the consequences and regret for what has not been said.

And at the culmination of the composition, everything is said – the words become redundant, because the thaw occurs, ”said guitarist Gints Smukais about his music.

The song “Thaw” will soon be available on music streaming sites.

The concert of the album presentation will take place on July 31 at 9 pm on the shore of Lake Raiskums in the territory of the camping “Apaļkalns”.

“The second album in my life is a very special musical story. The presence of water in the album will play an important role, so I also chose a very beautiful place for the album presentation concert – Lake Raiskums, whose acoustics and sunset mood will give an unforgettable sound and enjoyment to every listener, ”explained Smukais.

It will be possible to watch the concert from the ground by settling in the territory of the camping “Apaļkalns”, on the lake shore lawn on your own chairs or blankets. In turn, fans of a more active lifestyle will have the opportunity to listen to the concert from their boat or SUP board. Boats and boards can also be rented by buying a ticket in advance.

Gints Smukais met his first guitar in 2008 and three years later he had already started to study compositions in percussion style. Since then, Smukais has regularly performed in concerts with his music, as well as collaborated with such well-known Latvian musicians as Jānis Aišpurs, Jānis Stībelis, “MUSIQQ”, Annija Putniņa, “Latvian Voices”, Kristīne Prauliņa, Olga Rajecka.

The guitarist has also performed on international stages and participated in world-wide competitions, where he is highly regarded as a guitarist.

The original music album “Flourish” released in 2018 won the nomination “2018. Debut of the Year ”at the Latvian Music Record of the Year Award in 2019.
