Guitarist Carlos Santana became unwell during a performance in Michigan on Tuesday evening. The 74-year-old musician was treated on stage for a while and was eventually taken away by paramedics. His manager has on People let them know that Santana is doing well.
“He was overwhelmed by the heat and became dehydrated,” said a spokesperson for the guitarist. Santana has been transferred to a hospital where he is being monitored, but is doing well. At the beginning of December, he had to cancel performances due to heart surgery.
Several visitors to the concert report on Twitter that Santana passed out during his performance. The rushed medical staff stretched sheets to keep the guitarist out of sight of the fans.
According to the visitors, Santana was treated there for at least ten minutes, which caused great concern in the room.
In the end waved Santana addressed the worried fans as he was wheeled off the stage on a stretcher, sparking loud applause.
A performance scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed.
