Guitar Eric Clapton yields tons at auction in New York

Clapton played the acoustic guitar in 1970 at the first live concert of his band Derek and the Dominos. In advance, the auction house expected a yield between 300,000 and 500,000 dollars.

In total, the auction raised nearly $5 million. Music lovers with a large wallet also bid big on guitars from U2’s The Edge (437,500 dollars) and Pink Floyd frontman David Gilmour (200,000 dollars). Items from The Beatles, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones also went under the hammer.
