Apfter last weekend’s defeat against Montpellier (0-2), the Ultramarines accused two Girondins de Bordeaux players Benoît Costil and Laurent Koscielny of racism. David Guion, the coach of Bordeaux, stepped up to defend the main concerned.
In last position in the Ligue 1 standings, nothing is going well between Bordeaux and its supporters. During the match against Montpellier last Sunday, some supporters accused Benoît Costil and Laurent Koscielny of racism.
In a match with Montpellier reduced to nine, the last of Ligue 1 did not even manage to score a goal. A huge frustration for the supporters. After the meeting, the situation was very tense and players went to discuss with members of the collective. That’s when the accusations started.
Guion defends his players
In response to these serious accusations, David Guion came to the defense of the goalkeeper and the defender, in remarks reported Friday by France Bleu Gironde.
“At no time can racism enter the locker room, it will not enter our locker room, and obviously it has not entered. I have seen the press releases from the club, the players, the supporters. I have seen that the The goal for everyone, and for Benoit (Costil) as well, is to maintain it.”
Guion is not the only one to have defended Costil and Koscielny. This Thursday, the players came out of silence by sending a press release. They deny all the accusations of which the two French are victims. A terrible atmosphere on the side of Bordeaux, which no longer seems able to do anything to stop its fall.
